Reference...? In my recent job my boss was very mean to me but she would always do it in a nice way. I quit a couple months ago and now I am looking for a new job and I need experience to be able to work where I want to apply for. Should I put them down as a reference? After I quit, and she wasn't very happy with it? Do they usually even call the references?

What does this reference number mean on ferderal taxes? I went online to check the status of my federal income tax return. When I entered in all the information a page came up saying that they can not provide any information on my return (it has already been accepted) and that I need to call the IRS and tell them reference number 9001. Does anyone know what that reference number means?
What would you like to get from your local reference librarian? Considering that the age of information is changing, and you no longer need a person to help you sort through card catalogs when you go to a library, what services do you expect or want from your reference librarian? Do you want to be able to e-mail someone and get fairly-instant responses about information-related questions? Do you want computer classes? When you're using public terminal computers, do you want someone who can help you with basic computer questions? Do you want your tax dollars to pay for a reference librarian at all? Is there anything else you'd like to see?
How to word a reference letter for a bad employee using euphemisms? I am helping my boss write a letter of reference for an ex-employee who was a lazy, unintelligent alcoholic. How can I word it so that the reference is neutral- not too sarcastic or mean but not positive, either? Funny wordplay is a plus. Um, please don't take this question so seriously. I'm very aware of the law on negative references but would like to make a euphemism-laden reference anyway, if for no other reason than to make my boss laugh but not actually send out.
What are the drawbacks to giving a former employee a negative reference? My family owns a small business. I get calls often from potential employers who want references for our former employees. I love to give good references when they're deserved, but my father insists on NEVER giving a negative reference--even when we know the employee in question was awful. I think he's afraid of legal repercussions, but as long as you're telling the truth about the person's work performance, isn't it better to be honest? I'm talking about if they were chronically late, didn't follow instructions, didn't have skills they claimed to have on their resumes, etc.--not gigantic accusations like theft or drug use or auto accidents, etc.

How can I reference the information I get on Yahoo answers for school reports? I think yahoo answers is GREAT! I've learned everything from politics, history, religion all the way through sex education. Stuff I cant share with my parents Ive been able to find the answers. Anyway I've been using a lot of the information already in school. How do I cite it as a reference. Do I say from a source in Yahoo Answers? I just have been writing it in my reports mainly social studies and biology and not saying it came from Yahoo but crediting it to another source. I think all you great people who take the time to give me such good information and advice should get credit for your great work. Thanks to all of you I learned that I have to check the information, go to the web sites listed and check there, or cite it as an interview source with a person who answered. If I check the information and it is reliable I can cite that source. I can also read all the information and paraphrase it as my opinion as I'm doing now. I'm going to let all the great answerers vote on the best answer. I hope that way other people will also read the answers and Learn something too. Thanks again to all of you!

What is the reference pressure for a decibel for music programs like garageband? Given that a decibel is a logarithmic unit, if the reference pressure were the smallest that a human ear could hear, I believe (unless I'm mistaken) that would mean if the pressure equaled the reference pressure, 0 decibels would be virtually inaudible. However, in garageband, 0 decibels is clearly very clearly audible. If that is the case, what is the reference pressure used in such programs?

How do I make excel formulas reference a worksheet in the current workbook? I am working with a large number of workbooks that contain identical worksheet names. The data (values) in each of these workbooks and worksheets are different, but the formula and data locations are identical on each sheet. I would like to add a new worksheet to each of these workbooks that puts essential information on one sheet in a summary. How can I cut and paste a sheet from one workbook to another and have it reference the book it is in rather than the one I copy it from? Or, must I edit each reference each time I copy it? Thanks in advance.
What happens when the ground reference is disconnected from an electric circuit? I understand the concept that ground is the zero voltage reference point with respect to the rest of the circuit, but with the ground disconnected, will the circuit continue to function? I was playing a bit with an small circuit, but I found out, even with ground disconnected, the circuit continues to work? Is this really the case or not? What's the reasoning behind this? I was trying to justify it by thinking that the circuit continues to work because the electrons in the circuit haven't yet accumulated up to the point where the voltage would to equal. But that reasoning sounds pretty dubious because of how fast electrons move. So what would be the logical explanation for the circuit to continue to function? thanks.
What is the reference frequency of light people use to construct 3-D models of the world? When working with holographic films and the process to capture an image on them; a coherent light sources beam is split then an interference pattern between the two is reconstructed on a film surface. It is this interference pattern and the information it contains that forms 3-D image. A few questions come to mind: 1: Do people with normal depth perception use a certain frequency of light as a reference to construct a 3-D model of the world? 2: If so, is this frequency constant or does it vary from person to person based upon the distance their eyes are apart, the focal depth from their lens to their retina, and the specific photochemistry occurring? 3: If not, what is the frame of reference used by the mind to transform individual angles each eye views to an form a 3-D image?
